The lost hearts

On my 365 blog I have a visitor map that shows a heart whenever
someone visits my blog. I Love it! Those little hearts blink in unison
when people are actively on the blog
and then
leave little heart remnants
after they've gone.

Then one day last week a server went down and
those little hearts were gone. Just like that. Pooof.

And the world looks empty again.

sigh.

Yesterday..

This was the beginning of the drawing I was working on yesterday.
I held it up to my face, to show Bill .. and then he snapped this unusual picture.

The Last of the Oatmeal Days..

It's cold here today, at least by April in Florida standards.
Right now, this very minute it feels like it's 64 degrees.

Thats unheard of this time of year!!

If thats not inspiration enough to paint, I don't know what is.

365 Updates..Finally!

365

Explorations and excavations: 365

I'm finding that, as the project goes on, I'm trying different things...
Looking at the complete set feels a bit schizophrenic,
but I have to keep reminding myself that this isn't about creating a set of finished pieces,
but trying new ways of working and keeping myself in a creative flow that enhances my work.

What do you all think?

A few notes about concept here: I really wanted to use the brush strokes (both the circular and zigzag) but they felt way too stark on their own. And ironically, the drawing I placed in the frame was just too detailed so I turned it into a silhouette and from there it felt better visually. I'd given myself an implied editorial assignment "cancers that strike women" and ran with that, adding in the dna inspires strip andd the red cross. Was it successful? hmmm.
